Several titles that were initially due to launch in March received delays including the likes of Ridge Racer Unbounded, Max Payne 3 and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. City Interactive's Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 joined that list today.
Originally due for a release on March 20th, City Interactive has announced that the sequel (via Shack News) will now launch on August 21st. It's got some tough competition, however, in the form of Square Enix and United Front Games' Sleeping Dogs, which was previously Activision's True Crime: Hong Kong.
Electronic Arts' multi-million copies seller franchise, Madden NFL, is also expected to release during the latter stages of August in the form of Madden NFL 13. Let's also not forget the slew of games which remain undated and may very well see a release this August.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is based on CryEngine 3 (evidenced clearly in the screenshots below), which is the engine utilized by creator Crytek in Crysis 2. Although we can't think of many sniper-dedicated games, European publisher Namco Bandai stated the sequel will deliver "the most authentic sniping experience to date in a video game."
Ghost Warrior 2 is in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game includes a new AI system and more varied challenges. One-shot skills will obviously make a return, too.
