The Sony Entertainment Network online store has finally gone live on PC, making it easier than ever to purchase your games, movies, etc. from pretty much anything with an internet connection.

In the past, the only way to buy a digital copy of, say, Journey for your PlayStation 3 was to fire up the console, head on over to the store, search for it and buy it. But now, according to the PlayStation Blog, you don't need to be anywhere near your PS3, PSP or Vita to make that digital exchange a reality. With the ability to connect to the Sony Entertainment Network through anything with an internet connection, you can take care of that shopping fever from pretty much anywhere.

My first reaction upon hearing this news was, “Well, that's nice, but I'm not sure it's something I'll ever actually benefit from.” But then I remembered all of those times I was stuck late in the office or away from my gaming machines on vacation. Now, so long as I can jump on the internet real quick, I can go ahead and make those purchases wherever I happen to be and my games, DLC, etc. will be waiting for me to download as soon as I get back home. And according to the above linked blog post, they're even working on implementing automatic updates, which means I could set it to download from the office and have my new games and demos waiting to be played as soon as I get home. The future!

To figure out how everything works on your own, head on over to the Sony Entertainment Network online store. Or, if you would prefer a video rundown, you can always take a gander at the clip embedded below.
