One of Activision's subsidiary studios, Vicarious Visions, were developing a tactics-based spin-off based on the Call of Duty franchise, with footage emerging to prove its existence.

Although cancelled, Superannuation found a former staff member having footage of the game on their website, which was based on World War 2.

It was in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC during 2009 but its cancellation remains a mystery.

This certainly isn't the first time a spin-off based on Activision's huge Call of Duty IP was cancelled. Sledgehammer Games, who collaborated with Infinity Ward on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's development, were seemingly developing a third-person action-adventure game based on the shooter franchise. However, they instead halted and consequently cancelled its development by Activision's request and helped Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 3.

Another canned Call of Duty spin-off entitled Devil's Brigade, meanwhile, emerged during the opening stages of 2012. Also a World War 2-inspired game, Activision were believed to have gathered a relatively small team to develop during 2007 while the first Modern Warfare was preparing for its genre-defining release.
