Atari sent out word that the very first phase of the closed-beta testing for the upcoming MMO racing game, Test Drive Unlimited 2, is currently underway. Gamers will be able to test drive some of Test Drive’s fanciest and fastest cars available on the game.

Not only will beta testers get to try their hand at some of the sportiest and flashiest cars from the past and the present, but Atari is ensuring that every aspect of the game gets the testing treatment, including the day and night cycle, as well as the realtime weather effects.

As stated in the press release…
With TDU2’s patented Massively Open Online Racing® system, closed beta testers will be immersed with day/night cycles, changing weather and automatic updates of new content. As they help shape a revolution in multiplayer racing communities, players will compete, team up, and share their achievements and creations online.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 isn’t set for release until early 2011 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For now, the game’s closed beta will primarily focus on the PC rendition of the game. You can learn more about the testing as well as what the full game will contain by heading on over to the Official Website.
