Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD hasn't even come out yet, and already we're finding out that the game is going to get even better following launch. That "better" stuff will cost, of course, but we doubt fans of the series will complain too much about shelling over a few extra bucks for more classic skateboarding action.

According to a report from Joystiq, Activision has announced that, about a month following the launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD on consoles, the first DLC pack will be made available for $5. This pack will feature content from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, which should complement the game's original content from the first to Hawk games quite nicely.

So far, the only confirmed content is the Airport map, as well as unknown additional characters. Here's hoping that at least a few tracks from the game's excellent soundtrack also make the cut.

THPSHD is set to launch on Xbox Live on July 18 and the PlayStation Network in the weeks following. The earliest we can expect the THPS3 DLC would be mid-August.

I find it interesting how much buzz this game is getting. The Hawk series has been on a steady decline for quite some time now. I have a feeling Activision could have announced a “new” game in the series and gamers the world over would have rolled their eyes, groaned and ignored it completely. Announce that the best, 15-year-old games in the series are getting an HD makeover, however, and everyone goes insane with glee.
