Activision announced that the new skateboard-controller oriented game, Tony Hawk: SHRED, has officially landed in local retailers in North America. The game sees the famed Tony Hawk video game franchise branching out beyond the wheels and shredding its way through the snow with all new snowboard gameplay features.

As stated in the press release…
With Tony Hawk: SHRED’s innovative motion-sensing board controller and exciting GO BIG gameplay, kids will be actively using their boundless energy while riding as any of SHRED’s pro skaters and snowboarders including Tony Hawk, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins, Corey Duffel, Sean Malto, David Gonzalez, Geoff Rowley, Stevie Williams and Chaz Ortiz; and snowboarders Travis Rice, Louie Vito and Olympic Gold Medalist Torah Bright.

Take note, however, that this game is NOT a realistic take on the genre whatsoever. In fact, Tony Hawk: SHRED is another one of those goofy kiddy game iterations within the long running series that sees comical characters pulling off ridiculous moves based on the imitated moves from real life players on the motion-based skateboard controller.

You can pick up a copy of the game for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the Nintendo Wii. One other thing worth noting is that the Wii version supports the use of your Mii’s…so if you felt like downgrading the game’s graphics into a hideous Mii, well you’ve got the option to do so.
