The PS3 exclusive Uncharted series has turned out to be a cash cow for Sony. In a new interview, Sony product marketing manager Asad Quizilbash revealed that over 13 million copies of Uncharted games have been sold worldwide.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is a big contributor to that figure. The game sold 3.8 million copies on its launch day last month.

Quizilbash told IndustryGamers that UC3 was "one of the largest first party games we’ve shipped on this platform and had the marketing budget to match." The marketing campaign began with an announcement at the Spike Video Game Awards last year. They promoted the game throughout 2011 with a public beta, a national campaign with Subway, a reality show competition, and a slew of television ads.
