The Unfinished Swan is finally finished! Well, sort of. The swan itself is still unfinished, which is where you, the player, comes in. The game, though, is ready to roll. You can get your hands on The Unfinished Swan on Oct. 23, or a week earlier if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

The Unfinished Swan is one of those games that defies genre or explanation. You play as a child, recently orphaned, who escapes into the world of his mother’s unfinished paintings. Everything in these worlds is stark white, leaving you with the playing mechanic of throwing black paint all over the place in order to reveal your surroundings. In doing so, you eventually uncover a path in order to chase down the subject of your favorite painting, an unfinished swan.

For a far better idea of what the game offers, check out this official developer diary, which was recently posted on the PlayStation Blog.

The Unfinished Swan looks to be one of those rare, unique games that makes you think about video games as a medium in a whole new light. There are no terrorists to kill or derailing trains to leap from, but that doesn’t mean that this sort of game can’t be just as engaging as the next big FPS or action title.

The Unfinished Swan will arrive exclusively on the PlayStation Network on Oct. 23. If you are a Plus Subscriber, you’ll have the opportunity to get the game a week early on Oct. 16. Either way, this interesting new spin on gaming will set you back $14.99.
