Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has received a batch of free downloadable content. The Exterminatus DLC adds co-op to the third-person action game.
In Exterminatus mode, four players must work together to fight off Orks and the Forces of Chaos. Players can choose from three classes: Tactical Marine, Devastator or Assault. The mode currently has two scenarios, Assault on Hab Center Andreas and Escape from Kalkys Facility.
The co-op is connected to the competitive side of multiplayer. Leaderboards will let you measure your performance against other players. Any perks you've unlocked in competitive play can be used in Exterminatus. On the flipside, any progression you make in Exterminatus will affect your multiplayer ranking.
This is just the first bit of DLC planned for Space Marine. Relic previously stated that they will be releasing both free and premium downloadable content in the future.
Space Marine debuted on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in September. In the single-player, players take on the role of a Space Marine captain who must lead his troops in a valiant defense of an Imperial Forge World. The competitive multiplayer features team deathmatch and capture-the-territory modes.
