The Wii U might not be the only hardware released by Nintendo this fall. An internal release schedule from a retailer states that a smaller version of the Wii console will be arriving in stores in December.
The redesigned Wii, dubbed the Wii Mini, will launch on December 7th. It's said to come with a Sensor Bar, Wii Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus. There's no mention of a price for this new model.
The information on the Wii Mini was obtained by Nintendo World Report. They declined to name the "major retailer" that leaked their schedule, though. NWR is a US-based website so presumably that's where the retailer is based as well. That would mean that the December 7th release date applies to North America, if anywhere.
As NWR notes, this would be the second time that Nintendo has redesigned the Wii. In 2011, Nintendo made the console a bit smaller and removed the GameCube controller parts. The fact that they're calling this new model "mini" means that the drop in size will be more dramatic.
Nintendo lowered the price of the Wii down to $130 in October. However, that bundle came with both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. If the Wii Mini doesn't come with a game at all, it may be even cheaper.
