2K Games and FireAxis released a new developer diary for the upcoming turn-based strategy re-imagining of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and it's jam packed with everything fans of the strategy franchise have been long awaiting in a remake.
The video does an awesome job of showing both the strategy aspects of the combat as well as answering many of the questions fans have had about the remake all along, such as: is the environment completely destructible? Can soldiers scale vertical objects? Or how will the time units work? Well, check it all out in the video below.
Pretty awesome, eh? There is only more thing I hope they explain about the game: how many soldiers can you take with you on the battlefield? In the old X-Com games you could take as many tanks, soldiers or droids as your largest ship could fit and then break down the soldiers into squads once they got into the combat area. Hopefully the game isn't limited to just six soldiers per mission because that could be a little lame.
Still, this game is leaps and bounds better looking than that other XCOM game that 2K Marin was working on. The destructibility, weapons, combat, updates and upgrades to the classic concept look amazing and the innovation on the action units is a well-welcomed addition to the genre.
This strategy rendition of XCOM is set for release this fall as a simultaneous release across the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For more info feel free to visit the Official Website.
