There are some big games in store for launch this March as part of the free Games With Gold program for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. The titles include Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment, Borderlands, Supreme Commander 2 and Deck13 Interactive's Lords of the Fallen.

Shacknews picked up a video from the Spanish Xbox channel on YouTube who previews the four free games that will be available for Xbox Live Gold Subscribers. They do a quick run through of the titles in just a minute and a half. You can check it out below.

According to the video Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments will be available for free on the Xbox One starting March 1st and can be digitally downloaded without paying a dime for it up until March 31st. The game comes from Focus Home Interactive and Frogwares. The title originally came out two years ago back in 2014, and is one of the few and rare mid-budget titles designed with a moderate scope in mind where over-the-top Hollywood set-pieces and blockbuster graphics aren't the order of the day. The Sherlock Holmes video game series has managed to keep a moderate fanbase intact across PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Focus Home Interactive is looking to expand that base with a free copy of the mystery adventure game being handed out to Xbox One owners starting March 1st.

If you're not into solving murders and interrogating suspects, you can get your hack-and-slash game on with Deck13 and CI Games' Lords of the Fallen. I loved the concept of this game and the simple nature of its design. It was focused more on the melee combat and the depth of those mechanics as opposed to trying to add everything and the kitchen sink to the feature list. Hailed as a worthwhile Dark Souls clone, Lords of the Fallen is an eighth-gen only action-RPG that came out back in 2014 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It's cool that Microsoft managed to strike a deal with the publisher to give the game away for free starting March 16th next month. The free deal on this sleeper-hit is expected to last up until April 15th.

Xbox 360 owners get equally noteworthy but truly outdated games added to its Games With Gold platter. There's Borderlands, which is an obvious and popular choice as a prime-time shooter amongst most console and PC fans. I can't imagine many hardcore gamers not already owning the game on some platform at some point, but for anyone who managed to miss out on Gearbox Software's high-end shooter for home consoles and PC, you will be able to get your hands on a digital copy of the game... for free. What's more is that Borderlands is backwards compatible between Xbox 360 and Xbox One, so come March 16th, if you only own an Xbox One you will at least be able to get Borderlands added to your library for free, especially if you missed out on it when it launched years ago.

The final game is Supreme Commander 2 and it will be available at the beginning of March for Xbox 360 owners and will be free up until March 15th. It's a complete departure from the other games on the list given that it's a real-time strategy game.
