As promised, Io Interactive has continued to churn out new content for Hitman on a regular basis. But along with the regular onslaught of monthly activities for October, the developer has announced that something brand new will be making its way into the game.

IO Interactive is finally free from Square Enix, and its first decree as an independent developer has been to make the first episode of the 2016 reboot of Hitman free, which includes two missions that take place at the ICA training facility.

In a bold move that some people saw coming and others reacted to with surprise, Hitman developer IO Interactive has gone completely independent. The studio has branched off from Square Enix following the episodic release of the 2016 Hitman game.

IO Interactive, Danish video game developer best known for making the Hitman games since 2000, have had to announce the sad news that they're laying off staff due to their uncertain future. This all comes after the recent news that Square Enix was no longer keeping them under their publishing wing.

A press note was recently issued by Square Enix where they announced that they're severing ties with Hitman developer IO Interactive. In doing so they're looking for buyers to pick up the game development studio as they focus on their more lucrative IPs.

IO Interactive is taking a completely different approach to providing gamers with new challenges and targets in Hitman. They're extending the replay value of each episode with the Elusive Targets, and the next one for the Sapienza episode will go live on May 27, next Friday.

The launch trailer for the second episode of Hitman has gone live ahead of its April 26 release, featuring a look at Agent 47's visit to the fictional tourist town sitting off the sandy shores of Italy. We get to see a few of the outfits 47 will don as well as his main target in the area, a biochemical engineer.

IO Interactive and Square Enix will roll out the next episode of the Hitman reboot on April 26 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The second episode takes Agent 47 to the coastal town of Sapienza, a fictional location off the shores of Italy.
