Picture Armie Hammer bulked up, with a shaved head and set on a mission of vengeance. That sounds about what he has in mind for the role he’s set to play in the upcoming Sheldon Turner helmed film By Virtue Fall, in which Hammer has been recently cast.

Hammer’s on the rise and has been since his excellent performance in The Social Network. Coming up, he’s starring opposite Johnny Depp in Disney’s The Lone Ranger. And according to Deadline, he’ll be busy with that until the summer, after which he’ll be taking on what sounds like a really cool role in By Virtue Fall. The film, which will mark Up in the Air co-writer Sheldon Turner’s first directing job, will have Hammer playing an ATF agent who is framed for corruption and sent to a maximum security prison. When Hammer’s character gets out of prison, sporting a bit more muscle and a bit less hair, he dedicates his time and energy to paying his former partner (Eric Bana) back for sending him there and ruining his life.

This definitely sounds like an exciting role for Hammer and one that might show us a more hardened, badass side to him. That’s definitely something to look forward to. In the meantime, he can be seen in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, as well as the upcoming Snow White movie Mirror Mirror, which is set to hit theaters this March.
