The Avengers Returning To Theaters For Labor Day Weekend

Given that The Avengers is one of the biggest blockbusters of all time – currently ranked at number three on the worldwide box office behind only Avatar and Titanic - chances are that you’ve already seen it, and possibly more than once. And who could blame you? Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios kicked off summer right by delivering a film filled with brilliant action, surprising humor, and terrific performances. But for the .05% of you that didn’t get your chance to see The Avengers on the big screen this summer, I have some great news.

Marvel Studios has announced via The Avengers official Facebook page that the superhero team-up film will be returning to theaters on Labor Day weekend. The run will begin tomorrow and the movie will stay in theaters through Thursday of next week, September 6th. It would also seem that Marvel is fully aware that just about everybody on the planet has already seen the movie, because they released this banner to go with the announcement:

In case you were curious, chances are that this release won’t be enough to make the movie move up in the all-time rankings. While the film has already made an impressive $617 million domestically, it’s still more than $40 million behind Titanic (if it weren’t for the latter’s 3D re-release earlier this year The Avengers would be at number two. That said, perhaps if you go see it enough times it will be able to reach number two!

For those of you that won’t be able to catch The Avengers in theaters, the good news is that you won’t have to wait much longer to see it. The movie will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 25th and you can pre-order your copy now.
