While we've all been getting to know him as the linchpin tying the Marvel movie universe together, Clark Gregg is taking a quick break from the world of S.H.I.E.L.D. and superheros to play with some penguins. THR reports that the actor, along with James Tupper, has joined the cast of the Jim Carrey-starring comedy Mr. Popper's Penguins, based on the book by Richard and Florence Atwater. Directed by Mark Waters, Carrey plays a business man whose life is changed completely when he receives six penguins in the mail. Gregg will play a character described as "a no-nonsense guy from the New York Zoo" and Tupper will play the boyfriend of Popper's ex-wife, played by Carla Gugino.
Between clamping down on Tony Stark's fun in Iron Man 2 and now killing Mr. Popper's penguin party, Gregg seems to be finding a niche for himself as a total buzzkill. Here's hoping that by the time Avengers rolls around we'll get to see his character get drunk as a skunk and wandering around with a lampshade on his head. Everybody has to cut loose once in a while and that includes Agent Coulson.
