As he works on reviving the franchise with Terminator: Salvation, director McG also plans to honor the visionary who probably made the series as popular as it is. No, not James Cameron-- Stan Winston, the special effects guru who died in June. Winston was working on the film when he died, and McG said at Comic Con "It's our intention to dedicate the film to Stan Winston."

Winston won two Oscars for Best Makeup and Best Visual Effects for his work on Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and helped create the signature look of the Terminator with the first film in 1984. He worked with James Cameron all the way up through Titanic, and was apparently disappointed when this decade's revival of Alien through the Alien vs. Predator movies didn't involve his contributions. Even though Winston's work won't be full part of Terminator: Salvation, it's good to know his huge influence will be honored.
