Director Signed For Two More Saws

October is still a few months away, and with it the next chapter of the Saw franchise. As we’ve seen in past years however, it’s never too soon to start looking at taking the franchise even further. Typically a few weeks before whatever Saw movie we’re on hits theaters we’re hear talk about the next sequel, but this time Lionsgate is months ahead of their usual schedule.

The news making the rounds this time is that David Hackl, who served as production designer and second unit director on several of the films, has been attached to next year’s Saw V AND Saw VI, which presumably would come the following year. That’s right – Lionsgate has signed a director for two more Saw films, according to Bloody-Disgusting.

Hackl is a natural choice. After all, he was in the running to direct this year’s chapter, Saw IV. It’s also not much of a surprise to see Lionsgate thinking about two more films. Rumor has it Tobin Bell, the franchise’s creepy killer, originally signed on for seven pictures.

We can all assume Lionsgate won’t officially green light the next picture until they see how Saw IV does in October, but at this point the franchise seems to have enough of a die hard following that it only makes sense for them to keep building movie after movie.
