Stay patient, Dumb and Dumber fans. Your anticipated sequel is on its way, but you are going to have to wait longer than we might have believed.
Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s Dumb and Dumber To will open in theaters on Nov. 14, 2014, according to Universal Studios (via ComingSoon). As opposed to the 2003 Dumber prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd– which no one wanted – this upcoming comedy reunites original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in arguably their signature roles. Here’s what they look like 20 years after filming the first comedy:
And the duo plans to bring some famous friends. Katniss Everdeen herself, Jennifer Lawrence, recently joined the production in a mysterious but "noteworthy" role, according to reports. Stay away from IMDB, which seems to give away the joke. Idiots. How did that happen? Well, Lawrence was filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in Atlanta at the same time as Dumb and Dumber To. And, she is a mega-super Dumb fan. Let’s let her explain.
What do we know about the sequel? The plot, from what has been reported, follows Harry and Lloyd in present day. One of them is going to need a kidney, so they once again set out on a road-trip adventure in search of a long-lost child who might be a suitable donor. Speculation says that it might be the love child of Fraida Felcher (who will be played by Kathleen Turner in the sequel). But really, we’re turning in to a Dumb sequel to see if Carrey and Daniels can recapture some of the magic that led to scenes like these:
If Universal maintains that release date, it will drop Dumber into theaters alongside David Ayer’s WWII drama Fury, with Brad Pitt in the lead. But it is sandwiching the comedy between a number of MAJOR titles. Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar -- his wildly anticipated follow up to his Batman trilogy – is expected to land in theaters on Nov. 7. And the Hunger Games franchise continues with the first installment of Mockingjay on Nov. 21… setting up a delicious Jennifer Lawrence double feature. Get your tickets soon.
