In a way, Speed has a genius concept. You make it so that a big vehicle has to go super fast, and if it doesn't go super fast everyone dies. It's remarkably simple, and yet the end result is a surprising bit of awesome entertainment. That said, I have my reservations about the upcoming thriller Grand Piano, starring Elijah Wood. Instead of being about a bus that dangerously swerves through the streets, the film follows a struggling musician making his way back to the stage after a bout with stage fright who discovers that if he doesn't play the best recital of his life that he will be killed. Not exactly the most terrifying of conceits, but there you have it. And today we have our very first look at the film.

Twitch has posted the new image, which is as exciting as the movie's plot. I like Elijah Wood as much as the next guy, but at least have him looking a bit scared while at the keys. Check out the still below and see it full size over at the source.

Wood is joined in the film by John Cusack, but it is unknown what role he will be playing. Damien Chazelle, who wrote the upcoming sequel to The Last Exorcism, penned the script and Eugenio Mira, who last helmed the thriller Agnosia in 2010, is serving as director. Grand Piano does not have a release date, but is expected to come out some time in 2013.
