No one would have expected Guardians Of The Galaxy to be the smash hit of 2014 that it turned out to be, and even fewer people would have expected the film's dancing to inspire the film's sequel. Yet when Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 goes in front of cameras next year, there's going to be a lot more fancy footwork involved.
This news was obtained via a live stream that Vin Diesel broadcast through his Facebook. It was during Diesel's recent video that he dropped the information that not only had he read the script to the James Gunn directed sequel, but he also had the "Awesome Mix Vol. 2" CD in his possession as well. Which gives Diesel, as well as the rest of the crew, time to get their dance moves together, as he mentioned that dancing will play a major role in the Phase 3 sequel.
This could mean a lot of different things for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, especially considering "Star Lord" Peter Quill solved the first film's major crisis by distracting Ronan The Accuser with his own sick dance moves. If the increase of dancing is any indication, then Gunn may have figured out a way to actually factor a dancing sequence into the entire story of the film, if not some of the action sequences. With the mix tape of the first film going on to rack up some serious sales numbers, we're expecting some retro dance hits to litter the second installment's tie-in soundtrack as well. If you're interested, you can watch the full Vin Diesel video below.
Of course, another possibility is that with Star Lord's father coming back into the picture, the old man will be teaching some dance moves of his own to the Guardians Of The Galaxy crew. With Quill's dad being a major figure in the new film's plot, we wouldn't be surprised if some of those very moves were handed down to him through his genetic legacy. Though the element of mystery surrounding Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2's plot line will naturally involve such rampant speculation, we could easily see a Quill Sr. v. Quill Jr. dance off making it in as a possible mid-credits sequence. However, if there isn't at least one sequence involving Kenny Loggins and/or Footloose, we're going to be mighty disappointed.
Production on Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 begins next year, and you can see Vin Diesel in The Last Witch Hunter, currently in theaters.
