Presumably D.J. Caruso is still out there planning his adaptation of the graphic novel Y: The Last Man, along with about 10 other projects. But he might want to shake a leg on that particular project, given that a completely separate movie called, simply, The Last Man, is in development with New Regency and 20th Century Fox.
The movie, which will be written and directed by Training Day writer David Ayer, isn't similar at all to Y: The Last Man, based on Variety's description. It's an alien battle movie, in which a veteran captain and his young soldiers must fight alien forces on a distant planet. But we've all seen how similar titles can be no good for either movie. So watch out David Ayer: D.J. Caruso may be hot on your tail.
