Hitman Trailer Now Online

We told you last week that the trailer for Timothy Olyphant’s next action picture, an adaptation of the video game Hitman, would debut before his current film, Live Free or Die Hard, where he plays the villain of the picture. Well, we were right as far as the theatrical debut goes, but apparently it’s shown up online first.

For those of you who can’t wait twelve more hours, the trailer is online over at IGN Movies Online for your viewing pleasure. I’ve also included an embedded version below, although we’ll see if we’re asked to pull it like some other sites have been (it seems odd for a site that has “exclusivity” to give the option to embed the video elsewhere if the studio is just going to ask those who are using the embedded video to pull it down, but mine is not to question why…).

As for my take: well, the first half looks like a great video game trailer. I mean, you can hardly tell there’s any live action footage in there at all. The second half is a little more compelling, but Olyphant just doesn’t sell himself as a big, bad, bald hitman. He looks like a quasi-weakling trying to pass himself off as a big, bad, bald hitman. I have great faith in Olyphant, but every time I’ve seen him being bad ass it’s with hair. Can he pull off the same style without it? I don’t know. The trailer doesn’t sell me on it, but I’ve got enough interest to still give the film a try instead of just writing it off as a near Uwe Boll level fiasco.
