You probably can't toss out too much marketing about The Hobbit, to be honest, Coming more than 10 years after the first Lord of the Rings movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey still comes to theaters with the goodwill of those movies, meaning you'll probably smile when Peter Jackson's version of The Shire shows up on your screen, rather than scream and change the channel. And while The Hobbit should be a strong holiday season contender, it's still got a lot of competition, which is where advertising blitzes can really make the difference.

So today we have yet another new batch of marketing for the movie, in both video and poster form. First up is the new featurette from behind the scenes, which-- given that it's sponsored by Denny's-- is of course all about the food. Given how much hobbits love their breakfasts (and second breakfasts), it makes perfect sense:

A lot of the clips and trailers we've seen so far emphasize the meal the dwarves have at Bilbo Baggins's house before they begin their titular journey, but poor Bilbo, despite being a Hobbit, doesn't seem to be quite so happy a host. It is pretty fantastic, though, to see all the people responsible with stocking Bilbo's pantry with wheels of cheese and turkey legs-- and you do feel a little sorry for them when the dwarves wind up just wreaking havoc on all that hard work.

If you want something from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey that's a little less food-centric, here are four new banners, which surfaced at Comic Book Movie and may soon be appearing in a movie theater near you. By now it's obvious that the Hobbit marketing campaign is only beginning its ascent, and given that the first trailer appeared nearly a year ago, it's been quite the journey just getting here. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens December 14. At this point, do you even have a choice of whether or not you'll be there?
