Johnny Depp Randomly Visiting Schools Dressed As Captain Jack Sparrow

Any other actor would, by now, be so sick of playing Captain Jack Sparrow that he’d pull a Nimoy and demand that the character be killed off in the next film. But Johnny Depp, he’s not only happy to play him in another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, he’s putting on his costume and playing Jack Sparrow for free in his spare time too. Just because he likes kids, I guess.

The Daily Mail caught the increasingly awesome Johnny Depp wandering around south-east London schools in full Jack Sparrow regalia. He showed up in response to a letter from a student, who wrote to him and asked for help in staging a “mutiny” against the school’s teachers. Depp, who was filming Pirates of the Caribbean 4 nearby, decided to oblige and with almost no notice to the school at all simply showed up and started playing the pirate for kids.

Johnny entertained and delighted the kids, but the mutiny, sadly, had to be postponed. The girl who wrote the letter, 9-year-old Beatrice Delap says Captain Jack told her, “Maybe we shouldn't mutiny today 'cos there are police outside monitoring me.”

This isn’t the first time Johnny Depp has put on his Captain Jack outfit and entertained a bunch of kids. Back in 2008 he visited the Great Ormond Street Hospital and entertained sick kids. But this time he did it simply because he received an awesome letter and, well, he’s kind of awesome too.

Here’s what Beatrice Delap’s letter said:

At Mertdien on old Woolwich Road we a all a bunch of budding young pirates. Normally we’re a right handful but we’re having trouble mutinying against the teachers! We’d love it if you could come and help!FromBeatrice Delapaged9a budding PirateP.S. We have a plentiful supply of Rum!
