Official Site for Alien Attack

Spielberg’s upcoming War of the Worlds re-adapting continues to reach out and touch the internet in its special geeky place, this time by launching the film’s official site months ahead of intended alien release. The website doesn’t exactly have anything on it per say, except a place to register for updates should the add information… oh and some alien sucker hands firmly gripping the earth. I guess this means Spielberg is ditching the Wells love of tentacles in favor of Earth conquering aliens who have a lot in common with Garfield car decorations.

Ok, so I’m still a little disappointed in Spielberg’s choice to set his version in modern times, and in New York instead of Victorian era England. I’m just sick and tired of seeing New York, New Jersey and any of the surrounding areas on screen. We’ve seen the place destroyed more than Tokyo, can’t we send the aliens to Hoboken or something? Spielberg and Cruise will have a tough time differentiating their film from the dozens of other similarly modern era alien invasion pics, I expect their attempt to be something of a blending between Signs and Independence Day.

The film opens Summer 2005, click here to visit the currently under-informative official site.
