Penelope Cruz Attached To Woody Allen's Rome Project

Back in 2009, Penelope Cruz won her first Academy Award for her supporting role in Vicky Christina Barcelona. Given Woody Allen's penchant for casting the same actresses in multiple movies, it's somewhat surprising that this story wasn't reported years ago.
EW has learned from Cruz herself that she will be starring in Allen's next project. First announced last month, we know that the film will be set in Rome, though everything else about the project is being kept hush hush. Said Cruz about the project, "I know [what I'm doing next], but the thing is that I have to ask the director what I can say and what I cannot say because he’s very secretive. It’s…it’s a movie with Woody Allen. But I really cannot say anything about the story or the characters.” Allen's newest film, Midnight in Paris, is set to be released on May 20.
Considering how tight-lipped Allen is about the project, I wonder if he'll get mad at Cruz for saying that she' attached. As of last month the writer/director was still working on the script, so maybe now he'll kill her off in the first act.
