What’s the best way to advertise Basic Instinct 2? Sex of course.
A supposedly pirated video from the film has “leaked” out over the internet. I saw it last night but haven’t gotten to writing about it till now. I blame The Pink Panther. The video plays a lot like a really weird trailer for the film, except for one thing. It’s full of hardcore sex, nudity, lesbianism, threesomes, hot tubs, and even more nudity. It’s basically a porno real with a few ice picks thrown in.
A few people have already put forward the idea that this is not pirated footage, but actually something leaked from the studio to get people talking about the film. I believe it. It’s too well edited, it seems too much like an advertisement for the movie to be anything but something the studio WANTS us to see as a way to generate interest in their movie… which by the way I’m really shocked that they’ve managed to edit down to an NC-17 if this trailer is any judge.
