New Line has just released their first big batch of real images from His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass. We’ve seen pictures from the movie before, but most of them have been fuzzy fan snapshots or vague stills which reveal little of the film. These are the real deal, and our first chance to get a feel for how the heck The Golden Compass will turn out.
For me, the surprise is how bleak most of the images look. In my head, I guess I’d pictured something with deeper colors, something brighter. The only bright thing in any of these pictures is Nicole Kidman’s dress. Maybe that’s not bad though. Harry Potter and Narnia pretty much has rich and colorful covered. Maybe something a little more blighted is in order.
Also new from New Line are the first pics seen anywhere from Jim Carrey's new thriller The Number 23. Jim Carrey as a total badass? Apparently.
