Back in September, the Terminator Anthology hit the market, complete with each of the four flicks in the franchise. If you are the type of person who would like to see the first flick on Blu-ray, but could take or leave the rest, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing The Terminator to Blu-ray on February 19, 2013.

James Cameron’s The Terminator stars Arnold Schwarzenneger as a cyborg who travels back in time to kill a woman—Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor with an epic eighties haircut—whose future child would cause some problems for the machines. With the Anthology already available, we know the flick looks great on its completely remastered Blu-ray, and if Terminator is one of your favorites, now might be the time to buy or re-buy, depending on whether or not you really want to own the flick.

I hate to keep comparing this release to the huge Terminator Anthology, but the sets are for two completely different audiences. Anthology offers hours and hours of bonus footage, including archival footage, retrospectives—in short, the whole kit and caboodle. The re-release of the Terminator Blu-ray looks like it will be nice enough, offering fans deleted scenes and a few featurettes. However, it strictly seems to be for fans who only like the first film in the franchise and want to see how it looks on Blu-ray. Completists and avid fans should go elsewhere, and it’s a good thing there’s already a set on the market to address those needs. You can check out the full list of bonus features, below.

Terminator Blu-ray Bonus Features
  • 7 Deleted Scenes
  • "Creating The Terminator: Visual Effects & Music"
  • "Terminator: A Retrospective"
