New Trailer For Prince Caspian

Over the weekend at New York Comic Con, attendees got a chance to glimpse the new The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian trailer. They also apparently got a good look at Prince Caspian, a.k.a. Ben Barnes, in person, but that has nothing to do with anything except my own raging jealousy. Anyway, the trailer is now available online for the rest of us to see, to get us pumped up for the oh-so-soon May 16 release date.

The trailer does a good job of setting up the basic premise of the movie—a year after their adventures in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, the Pevensie children are whisked back to Narnia to help young Prince Caspian claim his rightful place on the throne. In Narnia time it’s actually 1300 years after the Pevensies were last there—and you thought it’d been a long time since the last movie!—and the children are actually revered as ancient leaders. Also there’s a big battle, talking animals, and of course, the great roaring lion Aslan.

It definitely pumps up the adrenaline, though even three and a half years after the series ended I still can’t help but think of Lord of the Rings when I see the fantastical battles. Check out the trailer below, courtesy of MySpace, and judge for yourself whether or not this is just a trumped-up LOTR or a special event all its own.

WATCH IT IN HIGH-RES
