Warning: The above video contains extreme man on snake violence. Not recommended for anyone with slithery sympathies.

In 1993 during The Simpsons fourth season, the town of Springfield introduced us all to Whacking Day… and no snake has been safe since. Celebrated annually on May 10th, on Whacking Day the people of Springfield drive all the snakes into the town square and club them to death. We suspect the people of Springfield may be movie lovers because, let’s face it, if you’ve seen any movies then you know that those mother f***ing snakes have it coming.

Today on May 10, 2013, the 20th anniversary of Whacking Day, we pay tribute to all the slimy, sneaky, no good snakes who’ve shown up in our movies, attempted to bite our heroes, and subsequently gotten what’s coming to them.

Footage featured in Whacking Day (A Tribute) includes snippets from: The Simpsons (1993), Vipers (2008), Snake Island (2002), Snakes on a Plane (2006), Hard Target (1993), King Kong (1976), The Jungle Book (1967), Anaconda (1997), Conan the Barbarian (1982), Resident Evil 6 (2012 game)

The music is “Snake Shake” written by John Carpenter for the Escape from New York soundtrack.

Oh, and there’s an audio clip from the video game Metal Gear Solid in there too, just for good measure.
