Tucked away in the Javits Center on the far west side of Manhattan, New York Comic Con could easily slip into the background of a city this big and chaotic... except many of the attendees are way, way too outlandish not to notice. Walking over toward the convention center you can't help but notice that the crowd is looking a little unusual, and by the time you enter the Javits Center you're surrounded by a veritable sea of wigs, makeup and fake weapons-- a ton of enthusiastic fans excited to spend a weekend dressed up as their favorite characters.

As usual, we're on hand at New York Comic Con this weekend to scope out all the action, and below you can see the highlights of all the costumes so far, including several Lokis from The Avengers, a very accurate Bane, a female Luigi, a Nurse Joker with a matching purple cast, and a very hairy man in a Wonder Woman costume-- because it just wouldn't be Comic Con if it didn't get a little weird. Click through the gallery for all the highlights, and feel free to help me identify some of the more obscure costumes in the comments.

We'll have much more New York Comic Con coverage coming throughout the weekend, including liveblog coverage of some of today's biggest panels. So keep coming back, and let us know in the comments what you want to hear about!
