J.J. Abrams got the new wave of Star Wars movies off to a solid start with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Rian Johnson will take the franchise further with Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Johnson's style and approach are a little different from Abrams, and that's not a bad thing. Finn actor John Boyega thinks that's a great way to keep things fresh, and he's loved working with Johnson on The Last Jedi...except for one thing. Evidently, Rian Johnson has a really awful taste in music.
I have to say, I hate his playlist on his iPhone. He has the country version to every great hip-hop song ever made and I don't understand where he got that from. It's treachery. It's blasphemous. Apart from that, he's amazing.
Don't let Rian Johnson DJ your party. Apparently, the director has some questionable songs on his iPhone that include country remixes to great hip-hop songs -- songs that likely don't need to be remixed at all. That didn't sit well at all with John Boyega, but when the worst thing you can complain about your director is his taste in music then consider yourself pretty lucky.
Rian Johnson's apparent fascination with country remixes aside, John Boyega had nothing but praise to share about the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Boyega appeared on EW Morning Live, where he dished on The Last Jedi and his new movie, Detroit. Boyega said that Johnson was a fun guy, going so far as to even say that he thinks Johnson might really be Santa Claus because of how jolly he always was on set. (If I were directing Star Wars, I'd probably be pretty jolly too). Boyega also commented on how bringing on new directors and talent will help keep Star Wars fresh and extend the life span of the individual films. Johnson had a chance to "go really crazy" and Boyega was impressed with how many new things he was doing with the age-old franchise.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi might just be the most anticipated film of the year. The plot has been as tightly wrapped as possible, but it will involve Rey training under Luke Skywalker while the First Order launches a counterattack after their devastating loss in The Force Awakens. Finn will be undertaking an undercover mission with new character Rose, while dealing with the injury he suffered at the hands of Kylo Ren.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to hit theaters on December 15, 2017. To learn more about the highly anticipated sequel, here's everything we know so far. For all the latest Star Wars and movie updates, be sure to keep it right here at CinemaBlend.
