I Am Number Four Featurette Has Super People Who Just Want To Be Normal

You know what we’ve seen enough of? Movies about extraordinary people who just want to be normal. It’s kind of like watching movies about rich people whining about how much money they have. It’s sort of like watching a movie about people spitting on your dreams. Wish you could have a better life? Nah, don’t bother it sucks to have money or strength or ability or success or to be smarter than you are. Just sit there and watch TV, it doesn’t really get any better than being “normal”, whatever that is.

Here’s another movie about extraordinary people who just want to be normal. At least that’s how director DJ Caruso describes his new movie I Am Number 4 in the following featurette, while wearing an abnormally fuzzy sweater. I guess he’s not normal either. Watch:

As described there the plot of I Am Number Four sounds a lot like the one used in Wes Craven’s failed horror movie My Soul To Take, except with super powers. In that movie seven kids are born and then hunted one by one, by a shadowy figure. This time it’s nine kids born on earth and hunted one by one, by a shadowy figure. Somehow though, I suspect this take on that story will be better. Everything’s better when you can shoot lightning out of your hands.

I Am Number Four arrives in theaters. If you missed the debut of the movie’s first teaser trailer a few weeks ago, you can check it out right here.
