Brother Of NFL Stars Vernon And Vontae Davis Charged With DC Murder

The Davis brothers grew up in Washington D.C. Vernon, 28, was selected 6th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. Last season, he dominated during the playoffs and caught the game-winning touchdown pass against the Saints with less than ten seconds on the clock. Vontae, 23, was selected 25th overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. He’s since developed into a solid cover corner for the Miami Dolphins with nine career interceptions. Michael, 19, now sits in a Washington DC jail charged with first-degree murder.

According to The Washington Post, the incident for which he’s now awaiting trial occurred on April 24th. Authorities discovered sixty-six-year-old Gary Dederichs unconscious on the ground. Paramedics were called to the scene, but nothing could be done for the Denver resident on vacation. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis, who was later jailed for two different assaults involving hammer attacks, was linked to this murder in the days following, and he was officially charged this week. Authorities haven’t yet released a motive, but the whole hammer thing makes it seem like blood for blood's sake.

Sometimes people can start in the exact same place and wind up taking very different forks in the road. Vernon and Vontae haven’t yet publicly commented on the charge their brother now faces, but I’m sure the entire family is devastated. Cinema Blend’s thoughts go out to those closest to Dederichs, as they attempt to move on from his senseless murder.
