Marc Anthony Gets Statue Of Liberty Tattoo
When people break up, it often seems like a good time to try something a little different or totally new. Katy Perry dyed her hair, for instance. Other people will get haircuts, or motor bikes, or even a new tattoo. If you are guessing what Marc Anthony’s been into after his break-up with glam girl Jennifer Lopez, the answer is 24 year-old Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima. Now, the singer and father is boasting some brand new tattoos.
Anthony recently headed to a Miami tattoo parlor where he got a matching tattoo with his 17 year-old daughter, Ariana. At the same time, he also got a tattoo on the inside of his wrist of the Statue of Liberty as a statement of freedom. Specifically, a statement of freedom “from his past,” meant to signify his relationship with De Lima. You can check out some photos of Anthony and his daughter during the event over at TMZ.
While I’m really happy Anthony chose to tattoo a symbol to celebrate his new relationship and not the object of his affection’s name, I’m a little more weirded out that he got a matching tattoo with his daughter at 17. It’s not that I am against tattoos, quite the opposite, in fact. It's just that getting a tattoo is normally a rite of passage to be done with friends or a significant other. There's something a bit rebellious about getting inked, and father daughter relationships are not typically about that. Regardless, spending time together is usually better than not, so bravo for togetherness.
