Last night on the X Factor, judge Nicole Scherzinger had the future of the reality singing competition in her fingers. She could have either sent Marcus Canty home, paving the way for a possible all-girl finale between Rachel Crow and Melanie Amaro, or she could have voted against Rachel Crow, tying the score and pushing the results into deadlock, a tiebreaker in which one contestant automatically goes home based on who received less votes. Ultimately, she pushed the acts into a tie, but not for the reason you might expect. Nicole was simply so emotional and sad about the whole ordeal that she intentionally voted to tie the score rather than have to pick herself.
Admittedly, there’s something endearing and special about a woman unwilling to do anything mean, but at some point, you need to grow the hell up. Someone had to decide between Marcus Canty and Rachel Crowe. As a professional musician and woman hired for her musical abilities, it should have been her. In fact, she should have relished her power to change the overall story arc, but alas, she’s apparently not emotionally prepared to tell people they're not good enough.
At the beginning of the season, I was really liking Nicole, especially during the scenes in which her house was filmed. She came off as aggressive, caring and good-natured. Those are all great qualities, but now and again, you just need to be okay with hurting someone's feelings in the short term to give them good advice for the long term.
Because of Wednesday’s debacle, I have no choice but to say Nicole is the worst

Enthusiastic about Clue, case-of-the-week mysteries, the NBA and cookies at Disney World. Less enthusiastic about the pricing structure of cable, loud noises and Tuesdays.
