Watch Tom Hanks Totally Lose It In These Maya And Marty Outtakes

Over the course of the last three decades, Tom Hanks has continuously asserted himself as one of Hollywood's most likable figures. From comedies to dramas, he has perfected the art of the "everyman" persona, and endeared himself to audiences time and time again. As it turns out, Hanks seems to excel at this art form because he's just as charming as his characters would lead you to believe. A new video has just hit the web showcasing a series of outtakes from a recent Maya & Marty sketch, and watching him barely keep it together is something every Tom Hanks fan needs to see. Check it out, below.
As you can see from the above video, it looks like filming "The Astronaut" sketch for the NBC series Maya & Marty proved to be an incredibly fun -- if sometimes frustrating -- experience for Tom Hanks. Although the sketch originally aired a couple of months ago, NBC decided to release the outtakes from the segment, and it's not hard to understand why. Over the course of the one-minute video, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, and even Hanks himself manage to ruin a number of takes in a number of hilarious and cringe-worthy ways. From laughing at inopportune times, to breaking vital props, things didn't exactly smoothly for the production of the sketch, but it seems like an incredibly amusing and light-hearted experience for all involved.
Like most blooper supercuts, it's hard to pinpoint exactly why this video makes us laugh so much. For some reason, seeing performers and entertainers crack up while doing their jobs has always managed to get a rise out of die hard fans such as ourselves. We cannot put our finger on the exact cause of this phenomenon, but something tells us it has to do with the fact that it makes beloved figures like Tom Hanks seem even more relatable and likable -- if that's even possible.
Of course, at the end of the day it looks like everyone involved managed to get over the behind-the-scenes silliness and finish "The Astronaut" properly. If you haven't caught the original sketch, yet, check out the video below to see the final product:
If you consider yourself a fan of Tom Hanks in any capacity, then do yourself a favor and check out the video. Not only does it provide a behind-the-scenes look at one of the better Maya & Marty sketches from this past season, but it also offers a closer look at the endlessly endearing Tom Hanks outside of his iconic silver and small screen characters.
