Subscribe To Game Of Thrones Could Have Just Added Another Targaryen Updates

Game of Thrones used to be pretty open about which actors it was casting for which parts, but over the past couple of seasons the HBO drama has left it up to us to sleuth out who might be playing what character. This week Devin Oliver, who just so happens to be the singer for the band I See Stars shared an image on social media indicating he may have joined the Season 7 Game of Thrones cast.

If you'll notice, he said "may or may not," which is hardly confirmation that he will be appearing on Game of Thrones. The HBO drama doesn't have a huge penchant for hiring Americans for the show, although Peter Dinklage, Jason Momoa and Pedro Pascal (born in Chile, raised in the U.S.) are all exceptions. The image seems to be from a video the singer was shooting, which is completely unhelpful, so most likely he's messing around.

However, if we are willing to extrapolate this possible casting out---and we really, really are---there are two things that are notable about Devin Oliver right now. First, he is rocking the icy blonde locks that most frequently belong to members of the Targaryen household on Game of Thrones. Secondly, he's a singer, and there is one character that will hopefully make a Season 7 appearance that will have a natural talent at singing. That character is none other than Rhaegar Targaryen.

While we now know Rhaegar Targaryen was a man who sparked a very bloody war in Westeros after "kidnapping" Lyanna Stark, history tells us that Rhaegar Targaryen was actually a pretty gentle dude, and one who loved to singer. It would actually be a natural fit to sign on a singer to the position if the show plans to delve into that part of the character's personal history, which is really the only reason this comment isn't completely outlandish. The Tower of Joy sequences have been one of the key focuses of Bran delving into the past, but we haven't met Rhaegar, yet.

Of course, casting rumors are getting more outlandish as Game of Thrones wears on. Earlier this year, a rumor was sparked that said Angela Lansbury was joining the series. I can just imagine her trading barbs with Olenna Tyrell, but unfortunately the report was debunked. Is it likely Devin Oliver is Rhaegar? No. Does it spark hoped that we'll get to see the character in Season 7 of Game of Thrones? Of course. We still need to know far more about the Tower of Joy, after all.

In the meantime, you can check out what we do know about Game of Thrones Season 7 so far.
