Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3 Is Setting Up A Titanic Reunion

We're still months away from the return of superheroes to The CW, but news has been trickling out about what to expect in the fall. In the case of Legends of Tomorrow, the new season will be reuniting Victor Garber with one of his co-stars from Titanic. Billy Zane will appear in Season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow as an important historical character.

Billy Zane has signed on to play P.T. Barnum, who is best known as the co-founder of the legendary Barnum & Bailey Circus. Zane will appear in one episode of Season 3. EW reports that executive producer Phil Klemmer is aiming in Season 3 to tell parts of stories about famous folks that history books left out. The Legends of Tomorrow version of Barnum will be the villain of his episode, but he's not an evildoer as much as a man who wants to put on a good show for a big audience. While Barnum is remembered as a conman who claimed that "There's a sucker born every minute," Legends of Tomorrow will put a different spin on the story we all think we know.

This P.T. Barnum episode of Legends of Tomorrow will reunite Victor Garber with Billy Zane for the first time on screen since Titanic back in 1997. The prospect of such a fun reunion was evidently part of what made Phil Klemmer so excited to cast Billy Zane, and it should make for some fun scenes. Hopefully the episode makes a few nods to the blockbuster movie.

Victor Garber has already said that he doesn't want the Legends to visit the sinking of the Titanic in the Waverider, so Billy Zane turning up may be the only chance we get for some jokes about the movie. My money is on somebody saying "Never let go!" at some point in the hour. Alternately, if Titanic exists as a movie in the Arrow-verse, we could see some of the characters arguing over whether or not Jack could have fit on that floating door with Rose.

Legends of Tomorrow will return to The CW on Tuesday, October 10 at 9 p.m. ET. Given the crazy way Season 2 ended, we probably won't see the Legends with P.T. Barnum until they clean up some of their timeline mess. Season 3 will feature the good guys dealing with the fact that their time travel antics fractured the timeline and created all manner of anachronisms that have been scattered throughout time. Luckily, the existing team will get some help thanks to new superhero Zari Adrianna Tomaz, who will be played by Tala Ashe of Smash.
