This is going to be a very short rundown, as there is very little information given about the plot. What we do know is that Cavemen is based upon the popular Geico commercials. The cavemen in the show have been modernized to live in our society, but face discrimination based on their Cro-Magnon status. It’s a buddy comedy that is supposed to “turn race relations on its head.”

I don’t think I’m telling tales out of school when I say that this show is going to be 1. awful and 2. canceled very quickly. If there was some sort of contest to come up with the television premise that would interest me the least, a sitcom with cavemen standing in for the oppressed minorities in our country would pretty much win. Hands down.

The commercials are cute enough, but that’s mainly because they’re 30 seconds long. But if you want to talk about lucky guys, let’s talk about Joe Lawson. He came up with the concept for the Geico commercials, and from that, ended up with a primetime sitcom on a major network. Not too shabby for a guy whose previous IMDB credits included…nothing. While Cavemen may not be the greatest start, there’s always a chance he’ll get another job next season. Maybe he can bring that Taco Bell Chihuahua back for an hour-long political drama exploring the Mexican immigration issue.
