Charlie Puth Responds After Shirtless Pic Brings Out The Body-Shamers

The internet can be a place of extreme positivity at times but, unfortunately, there are also instances in which it can breed negativity. Celebrities, of course, are not immune to this and can be scrutinized by commentators on things like their physical appearance. Sadly, this was the case for Charlie Puth, who received negative comments from some users online after a photo of himself went viral. Now, the Grammy-nominated singer has clapped back at the body-shamers.

Paparazzi recently captured photos of a shirtless Charlie Puth and, soon after, they began to make the rounds on the internet. The photos elicited a number of positive comments and some that were more negative. In a Twitter post of his own, Puth called out his critics with an encouraging message:

Hey just a very quick reminder that it’s not cool to body shame anyone. Not entirely sure what the purpose of it is. Sorry I don’t have an 8 pack like damn......

Charlie Puth deserves credit for taking a stand against this form of harassment, as most would agree that body shaming or any kind of buying should not be tolerated. Since Charlie Puth posted the message, fans have chimed in with words of encouragement and support for the singer. One Twitter user further encouraged him to have pride in his body type:

Hey Charlie plss always remember that your body is perfect the way it is! Plss for all the people who are body shaming shame on you! U should be educated enough to know what it right and what is wrong.

Fans did not mince words when calling out the haters. Another user tweeted that Charlie Puth should continue to block out any negativity:

Don't ever care about those people. You are perfect just the way you are. And that's enough. Every human in this earth has their flaws and perfection, and for me, you are enough. Please don't ever say sorry. U have no fault!

While it’s a sad thing to report, body shaming has become quite common when it comes to celebrities. Jonah Hill, for instance, has also dealt with it and, just recently, it popped up after photos of him went viral. With this, the Oscar nominee took to social media to deliver his own powerful message that discouraged body shaming.

On the other side of this equation, some celebrities have also found themselves in the hot seat for allegedly body shaming others. During season 15 of America’s Got Talent, Heidi Klum was accused of body shaming a plus-size dancer on the show.

Needless to say, many are developing a low tolerance for body shaming and, hopefully, that only continues as more people, including celebrities like Charlie Puth, speak out. One can only hope that we reach a point where this practice is a mostly a thing of the past.
