If you believe TMZ’s report, it seems Leno and NBC have a solid deal to move Leno to the 11:35 p.m. timeslot. However, other reports say that no such deal has taken place.

TMZ claims that because Leno’s contract with NBC guaranteed him the 10 PM hour and the move to 11:35 was in breach of that contract, a new deal had to be renegotiated. They’re saying the deal is done, according to their source. They added that Conan O’Brien is out and Jay is “restored,” which to me implies that Jay’s re-claiming The Tonight Show. It’s entirely possible that I’m jumping to the wrong conclusion there but the whole point might be moot anyway, since The Hollywood Reporter says TMZ’s report is wrong, according to their sources.

Mysterious sources with conflicting information certainly adds a new layer of confusion to this drama. Hopefully NBC will post some public statement confirming or denying the rumors one way or another.
