UPDATE: THR says FX has confirmed that the above trailer is fan-made and not official promotional content for American Horror Story: Freak Show.

While October is still months away, FX is giving us the very first tease of American Horror Story: Freak Show. The creepy video's timing really couldn't be more perfect, what with Guillermo del Toro's horror-drama The Strain making its grand debut tonight.
The new teaser gives us a look at a blonde angel woman on a stage. She looks sad as her wings begin to spread...
And then we get a look at what's going on behind the scenes. There's a creepy guy in clown make-up operating her wings...
What exactly is going on back there?
It looks like the wings are actually a part of the woman. But a frame appears to have been fixed to her back, and there's blood. My interpretation of this creepy teaser is that the woman is being forced to perform, or at the very least, she's being exploited and manipulated for her beauty and differences. That may be a clue that the titular "freak show" isn't a happy family of circus folk, but rather, unique people who are either there by force or there due to lack of anywhere else to go.
Either way, it's an interesting tease, and hopefully the first of more to come in the nearish future. With The Strain bringing on the horror all summer at FX (read our review here!), it would be great if the network continued to roll out AHS: Freak Show teasers to remind us that there's more creepy to come this fall at the cable network. We'll have to wait and see if there are more to come.
American Horror Story: Freak Show is Season 4 of the FX horror series. It's set to take place at a "freak show" in Florida in the 1950s. This teaser follows a recent casting update for American Horror Story: Freak Show, which brought Wes Bentley to the cast. He joins returners Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and others, as well as newcomer Michael Chiklis, who's playing the strongman
