Originally both Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth were set to appear in the new 90210 spinoff series on The CW but now it looks as like Tori is out. Bad news for Spelling fans but if you’ve always been partial to brunettes, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a good possibility that Shannen Doherty might be appearing in the show.
What? Is Brenda seriously coming back? Nothing official has been announced but according to E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos, she is. Dos Santos has a source close to the show that says Shannen will be back but they’re still ironing out the details on how long she’ll shoot and what the story is on her character. If you were a fan of the original 90210 series then you already know that Doherty left the show after the fourth season and Brenda, who was once a core character in the series, moved off to London and was rarely even referenced after that. If she does end up on the new 90210, it should be interesting to hear what became of her character. Dos Santos also said Jennie Garth and Doherty may be reuniting on screen at some point. Think Brenda and Kelly will have finally put their shared love for Dylan behind them after all these years?
Tori Spelling, who was supposed to do a “few” episodes towards the beginning of the season won’t be appearing in 90210 due to personal reasons. This isn’t that surprising as Spelling had her second baby last month and probably has her hands full these days. Who knows though, if the series takes off, maybe Donna Martin will show up sometime in a later season.
