Chuck Lorre's Mom Pilot Casts Matt Jones And Spencer Daniels

Casting seems to be rounding out pretty nicely for Chuck Lorre’s newest pilot, Mom. Breaking Bad’s Matt Jones and Star Trek and The Office wonderboy Spencer Daniels are the latest to join CBS’ new comedy pilot as a dad and a boyfriend, respectively.
Mom stars Anna Faris as Christy, a mother who is trying to get her life back together after finally becoming sober. She’s living with her mother, played by the recently cast Allison Janney, but her newly rekindled relationship has more pitfalls than audiences may at first assume. In fact, some of Christy’s issues may stem from poor parenting early on.
According to Deadline, Jones is coming on board as Christy’s baby daddy and ex-husband, Baxter. The two have a son together. Additionally, Christy also has a daughter, who seems to be on the older side. I know this because Christy’s daughter will be dating Daniels’ character, Luke. While we don’t know much about either character’s personalities, a romance and an ex definitely adds some intrigue into the mix.
Mom may not have the most original premise I’ve ever encountered, but the show has already signed some pretty capable cast members and with Chuck Lorre on board, the endeavor has a really good shot of jumping from the pilot stage into a full-blown series. If that happens, Lorre will absolutely be the CBS king between this pilot, Mike & Molly, The Big Bang Theory, and likely another season of Two and a Half Men at the network.
