Continuum Season 2 Picked Up By Syfy

Syfy is doing decently with Canadian programming, between Lost Girl and Continuum. The latter was recently renewed by the Canadian network, Showcase, for a second season and it’s no surprise that in the States Syfy has nabbed the rights for Season 2, as well.

It should actually be a pretty good deal for a struggling network like Syfy to just be able to borrow decent programming from other countries. While Continuum hasn’t exactly been a ratings blow-out, with Deadline noting the series has only averaged 1.35 million total viewers during Season 1. However, in the scheme of things, since Syfy doesn’t have to pay for production, it shouldn’t cost too much to bring the show to US viewers.

Contiuum has a kind-of complicated storyline, following a group of rebels from the year 2077 and a police officer named Kiera who travel back in time, only to find themselves in Vancouver in the year 2012. While the rebels try to change history, it is up to Kiera to try to keep things safe by joining the local PD and keeping the rebels from harming the world. Season 2 will begin airing in April in Canada, but if Season 2 follows the timeline of Season 1, it will likely be a while before U.S. audiences get the new episodes. In the meantime, if you’d like to catch up on Season 1 before Season 2 hits the cable network, you can catch out the set, which hit stores today.
