Spring may be here but winter is coming April 1. To say the second season return of Game of Thrones is highly anticipated is probably an understatement and HBO has been doing all they can fuel those fires. Earlier today they released an incredible 22 minute recap of the first season which may not be enough for the initiated to catch-up but certainly is enough to pique their interest as well as satisfy the salivating fans with new footage.

An added treat for fans of the "Song of Ice and Fire" novels from George R.R. Martin, the pay cable network has included photos of several of the new characters coming this season. That's right, some of your favourites from the books who have yet to make the screen are coming and here's our best look so far at Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, Carice van Houten as Melisandre, Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth, Tom Wlaschiha as Jaqen H'Ghar and Rose Leslie as Ygritte. And for those who only watch and don't know who these people are, don't worry, you soon will. Valar morghulis! They all look great but I must say that Ygritte looks a little too great. That's one pretty wildling!

These five new characters are only the tip of the iceberg for people we've yet to meet in the David Benioff and D.B. Weiss adaptation of the novels. Not included in the pics (but glimpsed in a few of the videos) are Stephen Dillane as Stannis Baratheon, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy, Roy Dotrice as Pyromancer Hallyne, Hannah Murray as Gilly, Oona Chaplin as Jeyne, Ben Crompton as Dolorous Edd, Michael McElhatton as Roose Bolton, Patrick Malahide as Lord Balon Greyjoy, Lucian Msamati as Salladhor Saan and Daniel Portman as Podrick Payne. Whew. Mouthful. And for those who would like to see new pictures of our returning favorites, head over to the photo album on the Game of Thrones Facebook page where you might find some familiar faces like Jon, Daenerys, Arya, Jaime and more.

The second season of Game of Thrones premieres on Sunday, April 1 on HBO. It stars Kit Harrington, Emelia Clarke, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The show was created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, based on the novels by George R.R. Martin.
