A number of series have already aired their pre-hiatus holiday episode, and next Thursday night, it's Glee's turn. The promo for "Glee, Actually" gives us a look at what's in store for the kids of William McKinley High school (and those who graduated, but can't seem to stay away) in Glee's Season 4 fall finale episode.
Much in the way Glee tends to bounce around various story arcs in each episode, so does this promo in the way it advertises Glee's holiday episode. The title, "Glee, Actually" sounds like a nod to the excellent holiday film Love, Actually, which could mean we're in for a lot of interwoven stories - and that's not really a deviation from the usual format. There also appears to be a nod to It's A Wonderful Life worked in, and something to do with the Mayan Apocalypse…
Black and white segments and homages to classic holiday specials may be a recurring theme for Glee, with the referenced It's A Wonderful Life moment in the above promo and the memory of last year's bizarre "Extraordinary Merry Christmas" returning to mind. I'll be interested to see the "if glee club never happened" concept play out.
Here's a winter wonderland-ish looking photo from the episode.
Glee, Actually airs Thursday, December 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
